Weekend of premier hockey
JH Williams Premier League hockey comes to town this weekend with five men’s games and two women’s games being played.
Today, Star take on Kingscliff in the opening men’s match at 2.55pm.
Kingscliff lost to East Lismore last week in the dying seconds and will be keen to make amends.
Star should be the better side and if they can field their best team they will cover Kingscliff across the field.
They are FNC premiers and have not lost much from last season.
With defenders like Darryl Hughes, mid-field control from Thomas Vantaggiato and the penetration of striker Chris McGuiness, Kingscliff will need to be at their best.
At 4.20pm East Lismore take on United, a clash of two teams that lack consistency.
Easts will be without striker Simon Mackney (injured shoulder) but are otherwise at full strength.
In the last men’s game today, Ballina take on Waratahs.
Waratahs lost to Capri last round in a close contest last weekend.
Ballina is struggling, coming offa second straight loss, and will be hard-pressed against Waratahs.
Tomorrow at 12.50pm Mudgeeraba play Coraki.
Mudgeeraba are a good side and will test Coraki, which worked hard last round to beat Alstonville 1-0 but were below full strength.
At 2.15pm Alstonville will need to be at their best against All Stars.
Alstonville will need to take advantage of being at home. Some of their individual performances have been fantastic and, if they click as a team, All Stars will have a game on their hands.
