Weddings made easy

BRIDES-to-be, maids of honour, grooms, families, friends and those just downright intrigued in the excitement will be heading down to Ballina this weekend for the 12th annual Ballina Bridal Expo.

The coveted day that exhibits all there is to know, see and choose from in the local wedding industry is one of the biggest days of the year for many local businesses.

Treudie Kaehler, owner of Paradise Brides bridal boutique Ballina, has been exhibiting at the expo "pretty much since it started".

"It's one of our major days; we gear up the whole year for it," Mrs Kaehler said.

She said it's important for those with a wedding coming up because it gives them an option to have a look around at what's available and to find out who and what is involved in the industry, as many don't have a clue what a wedding actually involves until they find themselves planning one.

"There's all sorts of things (at the expo): you have everything from the dress, right down to the cake, the venture, photographers, cars, flowers. Everything that you need for your wedding is available at the expo," Mrs Kaehler said.

So just why is the wedding day so important?

"You don't get married every day!" Mrs Kaehler said.

"It's something you remember for the rest of your life. It's important for every- one, not just the bride and groom. It's always a special day."

This year's Ballina Bridal Expo program includes more than 80 exhibitors, the usual stunning bridal fashion parade, prizes, deals and a whole room dedicated to demonstrations.

It's the perfect place for you to get ideas and make some choices for your own wedding celebrations, said Ballina RSL entertainment and promotions manager Vicki Veitch.

Visitors will also have a chance to win prizes such as a place at two exclusive High Teas, served by shirtless waiters.

The 2013 Ballina Bridal Expo runs from 9.30am-3.30pm at Ballina RSL Club on Sunday.

Main stage parades and hens' night demonstrations kick off at 11am with a program including performances from The Barefoot Gypsies Tribal Belly Dance Company, Wicked Waiters and the wedding Fashion Parade featuring gowns, bridesmaid's dresses and floral bouquets.

In the separate demonstration room you'll find talks on choosing the perfect hair, make-up and dress for your big day and preparing for your big day.

Entry is $5 per person.
