Weather delays junior tennis finals

LISMORE Tennis Club was hoping to beat the weather woes and conclude another successful competition today.

Heavy rain delayed today's scheduled finals action at the Lismore Open Age Junior Championships.

With the rain subsiding, it was hoped play could get under way this morning and the tournament could be concluded as planned today.

About 130 players from across NSW and Queensland attended the event, contesting singles and doubles matches in various age groups.

The popular event offers valuable ranking points for players in the under 12, 14 and 16 age divisions.

Several Far North Coast representatives were participating in the tournament.

See tomorrow's Northern Star for a wrap-up of the concluding action.
