Waterproof camera a prize in photo comp
ENTRIES are open for the inaugural RED Inc Best Ever Photo Competition
Residents of the Lismore local government area are invited to put their photography skills to the test.
Calling for anyone from the region to submit one or two photos they've taken, the winner will walk away with a $300 Fuji Finepix XP150 waterproof digital camera from Harvey Norman.
It's a case of tables turned for the members of the photography group at RED Inc, the Lismore-based group that empowers disabled youth.
RED Inc's photography co-ordinator Cathie Dosba, said while previously the group's members have been the ones entering photographic competitions, this time, they'll be the judges.
"They (the RED Inc photography group members) enjoy working together, working with each other and improving their skills," she said.
"I hope residents of Lismore can enjoy themselves, and have some contact with RED Inc as well. I just hope that people enjoy participating."
Nikola Edwards, 21, of Lismore, has been part of the RED Inc photography group for two years after finding her passion for the art in high school photography classes.
She said photography is more than an interesting hobby, it's a lifelong passion.
"I'll always have my camera with me," she said.
Capturing nature, in particular, the beach and bright blue waves, is one of her fav- ourite subjects and she has previously submitted many pictures with these themes to various competitions.
Now behind the judges table, she's looking forward to seeing what other Lismore photography enthusiasts have to offer.
Entries close June 14 and the photos will then go on display at Just Grounds Café.
