A BUMBLE bee has shown his friendship to the man who rescued it by waving in appreciation.

New Zealand man Dylan Jermaine Trayez saved the bee from a bucket of water in his greenhouse and put him on a sunflower to dry out.

What happened next astounded him.

Mr Trayez waved to the bee and asked it to wave back... and it did.

The moment was captured on video.

"Yeeaah, what's up Mr Bumble Bee," he said.

"Hey bro, yeah, you're the man, yeah, what's up?"

It's been suggested bees lift their legs as a sign of aggression.

On the other hand the bee could have just been saying thank-you.

The video has since gone viral on Lad Bible and Fortafy.

Bumble bees are social insects which form colonies with a single queen.
