Wagga buyer nabs Ballina's iconic Aussie-pub
ONE of Ballina's iconic hotels has been sold to a buyer from Wagga.
The Australian Hotel - or the Aussie as it is known in town - has been sold through an expression of interest by specialist agency, JP Hotel Brokers.
Agent Greg Haines yesterday confirmed the sale.
"I have had a lot of phone calls about the pub recently," he said.
"There was a fair bit of interest in it, even locally, but I can say that the buyer was definitely not local.
"It was a buyer from Wagga.
"They became aware of the hotel through the EOI process.
"It's good news that the hotel has sold, because it has been a tough market.
"I think the market has been picking up lately."
Mr Haines said he could not reveal the sale price of the Aussie.
Located in the CBD on the corner of River and Cherry Sts, Ballina, the pub has a large beer garden, restaurant, 12 poker machines, a public bar, 12 letting rooms and a three-bedroom manager's quarters.
Mr Haines said they had recently listed the Commercial Hotel at Broadwater for sale at $1.35 million.
The Station Hotel in Lismore is also for sale through expressions of interest.
In the past JP Hotel Brokers has been involved in sales of the Eltham Hotel, the Lennox Hotel, Westower Tavern at Ballina and the leasehold for the Pioneer Tavern at Wollongbar.
