Perfect platypus picture voted as today's Photo of the Day

VOTERS had a brilliant selection of images to choose from for today's Photo of the Day but it's very hard to go past an image as exceptional as Rochelle Harris' picture of a platypus.

These shy creatures are notoriously difficult to photograph, but Rochelle managed to get this fantastic images of one swimming at Alstonville's Maguires Creek.

Voters in yesterday's poll were suitably impressed, with 40% choosing it as their favourite.

The other photos that did well in yesterday's poll were Dave Chisholm's picture of a huge wave breaking over a rock shelf and Kerri Irene O'Halloran's wonderfully colourful image of a rock pool at Shelly Beach, Ballina.

Photo of the Day celebrates the beauty of the Northern Rivers and the talent of its people.
