Vote for Northern Rivers top volunteer

IT'S time for the Northern Rivers to decide who is the region's top volunteer.

The Northern Rivers Social Development Council is organising the annual Community Sector Ball Awards, to be held this Saturday, November 10, including the People's Choice Volunteer of the Year Award, sponsored by The Northern Star and decided by you.

Some of the amazing volunteers nominated this year include Christie Fry from Byron Community Centre, Marie Kennedy from Northern Rivers Social Development Council, Cathy Mac from Nimbin, and Maria Breene from Tweed.

To cast your vote, buy a copy of The Northern Star, fill in the People's Choice coupon with your choice of nominee and send it to NRSDC at PO Box 5419, East Lismore NSW 2480, or drop it into NRSDC's office on the corner of Ballina Road and Cathcart Street in Lismore.

Apart from honouring local people working tirelessly for their communities, the Community Sector Ball is a great night out - a chance to dress up and enjoy an evening of good entertainment, food and dancing at the Byron Community Centre, with laughs provided by comic Mandy Nolan.

There will be a prize for the best dressed at the ball and you can get your photo taken in the magical A Mid-summer Night's Dream photo booth on the night.
