The cast of blockbuster television show Friends have reunited for a comedy sketch

JENNIFER Aniston, Lisa Kudrow and Courteney Cox made Friends fans dreams come true last night when they 'performed' a five-minute sketch on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

The Nineties sitcom stars, who played Rachel, Phoebe and Monica briefly reunited after Anniston's guest appearance.

Kimmel expressed his wish to act out some of his own "fan fiction" with the actress, before Kudrow and Cox surprised the live audience by popping up on an exact replica of the famous Friends kitchen.

"I spent $80,000 making it," Kimmel joked. "To the tee, every detail is correct."

Cue the theme tune that everyone knows the words too, canned laughter from a red button, and huge cheers from the crowd, despite Aniston sadly declining to don 'the Rachel wig'.

The chat show host joined in on the fun, standing in for David Schwimmer as Ross, who had to fend off the ladies' advances in his new storyline.

Sadly, Matthew Perry and Matt LeBlanc who played Chandler and Joey, were nowhere to be seen. Kimmel explained that for his episode, Ross' pet monkey Marcel had attacked and killed both characters.

The live one-off skit happened shortly before the 20th anniversary of Friends' premiere next month.

Other celebrations planned include a replica of Central Perk coffee shop in Manhattan from September, which will serve free drinks, offer the iconic couch for photos and even feature appearances from James Michael Tyler who played barista Gunther.

The possibility of a full Friends reunion has been dismissed repeatedly by the cast as "impossible" due to other commitments.
