VIDEO: Girls forced to wade through muddy snake pit

MALAYSIA has suspended a children's team building program after footage of young girls being forced to wade though a murky pool of water with blood pythons slithering through it enraged social media.

The video shows girls, who the Malay Mail Online reports were aged between 10 and 12 years-of-age, being forced to wade through the water as instructors laughed, sprayed them with hoses and threw snakes in the pool.

The organisers of the camp involved, who are employed by the Malaysian Civil Defence Department, have all been suspended.

"The programme has also been suspended. We want to ensure justice is served and the appropriate punishment is meted out to those found guilty, in accordance to our procedures," Civil Defence Force director Colonel Mohd Noor told the Mail.

"Our standard operating procedure do not allow the use of such reptiles unless it was an exhibition or demonstration on how to catch or handle snakes.

"This should not have happened. I am appalled by the incident."
