Victory will be welcome for Red Celtique

BRETT Dodson is hoping Red Celtique can shed her recent 'if only' tag with success at the next Lismore race meeting.

The chestnut mare is among the nominations for the $15,000 Benchmark 55 Handicap (2100m) at this Saturday's race day.

Dodson has seen his charge finish a narrow second on both of her last two outings this month.

With a decent record of five wins and 13 placings from 49 starts, the horse should be the one to watch.

The six year old is likely to face tough competition from She's Delightful, another horse currently in strong form.

Brett Bellamy's charge won on her home Coffs Harbour track last Saturday over 1900m.

Providing she backs up fine, the five-year-old brown mare should also be a decent bet.

Bellamy is enjoying a fine run of form at the region's tracks.

Evergreen Starlist, which will have his 81st start, should also be worth a bet.

The eight-year-old bay gelding has been running solidly since returning in November from a four-week refresher.

Queensland visitor Lyn Paton will also be hoping her campaigner Shoctonic can also continue her recent good form in the $15,000 F & M Benchmark 50 Handicap (1100m).

The five-year-old chestnut mare was unimpressive on her only Lismore outing but won over 800m in heavy conditions at Ipswich last Friday.

Ninety nominations have been received for the Country Matinee TAB meeting at the Woodlawn Rd track.

Race fields and times will be released later this week.
