Veteran journalist Peter Luck dead aged 73

VETERAN Australian journalist Peter Luck has died after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. He was aged 73.

The respected, multi-talented reporter presented or produced several current affairs shows such as Four Corners, Sunday, Today Tonight and Inside Edition.

He was also one of the inspirations behind TV specials such as 50 Fantastic Years and Salute to Australians at War.

Luck was also a columnist for The Sun-Herald in the 1990s.

Fellow journalist Mike Carlton spoke of his grief for the death of his "dear friend".

"Saddened beyond measure to report the death last night of Peter Luck," Carlton wrote on Twitter. "My dear friend, and great journalist and writer."

Carlton was joined by several other high-profile media personalities in passing on their condolences.
