US, interstaters in Super Sedan 30/30 showdown
The fixture represents a new, exciting innovation on the super sedan scene that will bring together a host of past and present stars, current and former national titleholders.
Promoter David Lander said this very special super sedan event was a long time in the planning.
“Along with Super Sedan Association officials we have worked for almost 12 months on this project that has attracted a top line-up of driving talent, not only from super sedans but also other divisions as well,” Lander said.
At press time, organisers had received 33 nominations for the event that will be highlighted with two 30-lap features. Each entry comprises two drivers, each participating in the main event and three rounds of heats.
There will be a break between the respective 30 lappers to not only change drivers but re-fuel for the second stanza of the tournament round. The 30/30 has attracted widespread interest not only from current super sedan stars but leading competitors from other car classes of speedway.
Former national sprintcar champion Todd Wanless and current Australian modified production titleholder Todd Doyle are among the entries.
Former grand national sedan star from the ’70s-’80s era and local businessman Paul O’Neill has come out of retirement especially to compete in the 30/30 and he will team with another comeback campaigner Ross Brims.
Americans Steve Francis and Clint Smith also will be in the field. Both Americans head to Lismore after recently completing a very demanding US season on the national championship sedan circuit.
