Focus shifts to Main Street

WITH the Alstonville bypass now open to traffic, work is set to continue on the highly-anticipated upgrade of the village’s main street.

Ballina Shire Council says works have been completed on the relocation of the Telstra utilities into its new alignment within the northern side footpath of Main St.

The next phase of construction is to install the electrical conduits for the future underground power on the northern side of the footpath from the roundabout to Bugden Ave.

This is expected to be finished early next month.

Work will then start on the reconstruction of Main St, including underground stormwater, kerb and gutter and new road pavement.

Stage one of the $2.5 million upgrade involved Bugden Ln, the southern side of Main St, the pedestrian access and upgrades to Freeborn Park.
