Priceless Penny to raise funds for N Rivers Care Connections
PENNY is a fully-working, handmade, pedal car, a labour of love donated by Northern Rivers Care Connections supporter Rod Ware.
Rod built Penny from scratch. This beautifully crafted pedal car took hundreds of hours to complete.
It has an adjustable seat, brakes, and a fold-down Perspex windscreen. The steering and pedal mechanism are all handmade and the car has pump-up wheels.
Rod named her "Penny" after inserting a 1943 ha'penny in the stainless steel grill.
Rod and his family are long-time supporters of Care Connections, a not-for-profit organisation established by the community in 1991.
The group provides support for the ageing, people with disabilities and carers in the Kyogle and Richmond Valley areas.
This being such a special piece, Care Connections will hold a limited ticketed raffle. You will see Penny around the streets of Kyogle in the lead-up to the Kyogle Billycart Bonanza on Sunday, September 7, when the winner will be drawn.
Tickets are $2 each. Phone Care Connections, 6632 2194 for more details.
