Unconscious man found at Brunswick Heads identified
UPDATE, SATURDAY 6pm: A man found unconscious in water at Brunswick Heads today has been identified and his immediate relatives notified.
It's understood his family is travelling from interstate to be with the man.
He remains in Tweed Heads Hospital in a critical condition after suffering a suspected medical episode.
Police are not treating the incident as suspicious.
ORIGINAL STORY, FRIDAY: Police are appealing for information after an unidentified man was found unconscious in water at Brunswick Heads today.
About paramedics were called to a man who was located unconscious in the water at the footbridge on Fingal Street, Brunswick Heads.
The man was taken to Tweed Heads Hospital in a critical condition with a bleed on the brain.
It is believed he suffered a medical episode.
Police have canvassed the scene but at this stage the man is still unidentified.
The man is described as being aged about 65, Caucasian appearance, 175cm tall, 80kg, grey/black shoulder-length hair tied back in a pony tail with a red band, grey/black full beard, thick black eyebrows, blue eyes, and scars on his chest from a prior medical procedure.
He also had a tattoo on his lower abdomen of two apples with two leaves, and a tattoo on his right inner forearm of a love heart with wings.
At the time he was found he was wearing black shorts with blue stripes on the side.
