Underworld remains search continues

GHOSTS from a seedy chapter in Sydney's history have come back to haunt their killers as police work to uncover the skeletal remains of underworld figures.

In Auburn detectives are using radar technology to search a residential backyard for the remains of Cenzig Sarac, who disappeared in August 2005.

Strike Force Salacia, made up of general duties officers, detectives and a geophysicist, spent the better part of Tuesday searching the Merrylands property.

In the past two weeks information provided to police has led them to a search site at Duck Creek and resulted in the arrest of one man.

Police believe at least three more men, who were seen with Sarac on two occasions shortly before he went missing, could shed more light on his disappearance.

Commander of Flemington Local Area Command, Superintendent Phil Rogerson, said the ongoing investigation led police to the premises.

"At the time of his disappearance, the address was a construction site and the home currently standing here was in the initial stages of being built," Mr Rogerson said

"We do not however believe the current owners are in any way connected to Mr Sarac's disappearance."

Meanwhile, DNA results have confirmed bones found in sand dunes during the building of the desalination plant at Kurnell belong to at least three people.

Police are investigating the possibility that one of the dead could be missing hit man Christopher Dale Flannery.

The discovery of the remains, believed to be two men and one female, have caused police to suspect the site could be the graveyard for underworld killers, meaning more bones could be buried in the sand, The Daily Telegraph was reporting.
