Undefeated tournament for FNC baseball team
The Far North Senior baseball team has returned from a successful tournament at Coffs Harbour taking out the carnival and going through undefeated.
The four-day tournament, over last weekend, featured teams from Coffs Harbor, Hastings, Tamworth and FNC.
FNC opened their campaign with a hard-fought 8-7 win against host side Cof
In the second game against Hastings, FNC dominated the opposition taking the win 11-0.
Pitcher Andrew Carrall did a great job on the mound giving up only three scattered hits while Bronson McNiff stood out with the bat grabbing three hits.
James Baxter took to the mound against Tamworth in the third game and put in another solid performance giving up only two hits.
FNC were able to overcome Coffs Harbour again in the final with strong performances from Jason Bromell, Corey Wilford and Kodey Wilford.
Meanwhile, four players have gained selection in the Queensland State train-on squad after a successful Under 18 State tournament.
The players were Kodey Wilford, Oakley McMahon, Ethan Elliott and Damon Mitchell.
They will now train for the next month before the final team is finalised in early November to compete at the Nationals at Sydney in January.
Elsewhere, Workers baseball Club held their presentation last Friday night which saw some long time baseball players and supporters recognised for their services to the club and game.
Aaron Olley was elected in the Workers Club Hall of Fame while Gail McClelland, Nathan Olley and Heather McClelland received 25 Years of Service awards.
