Umpiring a passion for stalwart

LISMORE netball has lost one of its greatest stalwarts with the death this week aged 71 of Lyn Webster.

Mrs Webster, who had been ill for some time, was a member of the Lismore and District Netball Association for 31 years.

In that time she served in most executive positions, including president and secretary.

But umpiring was her real passion. Under her supervision, hundreds of netballers passed their umpiring exams and went on to higher qualifications.

Mrs Webster’s outstanding contribution was recognised when, in 2003, she became the fifth life member of the Lismore association.

A service for Lyn Webster will be held today from 9.30am at the Lismore Crematorium.
