UK teacher told to leave on first day because of her tattoos

AN assistant teacher was sent home from her first day on the job at a UK Catholic school because of her arm and neck tattoos.

The Daily Mail online reported Mum of two Charlotte Tumilty was offered the role at St John Vianney's Primary School in Hartlepool as part of her training. But within an hour she was sent home because of her tattoos.

The 26-year-old told The Daily Mail that she was informed her tattoos on her feet, hands and neck were 'unacceptable' because of the school was 'strict Catholic' and that they were inappropriate.

"I have been told to cover them up before. I knocked back a job because they suggested I cover them up," she said.
