Lennox surfer Tyler Wright makes final of Roxy Pro in France
LENNOX Head surfer Tyler Wright is still in contention for the world championship after making the final of the Roxy Pro in France.
Wright is 200 points behind Hawaiian Carissa Moore with one more event remaining on the World Championship Tour, in Portugal next month.
Despite posting a perfect 10-point ride in the final against fellow Australian Sally Fitzgibbons, Wright was unable to find a back-up score to take the win.
Fitzgibbons finished with a 17.67 (out of a possible 20) while Wright was forced to settle for a 17.00.
"I didn't really have expectations, I've come here to surf, have fun and enjoy myself," Wright said.
"It was awesome to see Sally go out there and win her first event this year because I know it means a lot to her."
It is Wright's third runner-up finish of the year, with two wins to her name.
She has consolidated second spot on the rankings and chasing a further 200 points appears an achievable goal.
"The points and numbers don't really matter to me, they never have," Wright said.
"This year was never about that, I'm just happy to be on tour and living the life I live.
"I'm just here surfing and having fun - that's what I do best."
