UPDATE 6.05PM: Two people have died following a truck and car head-on collision on the Pacific Hwy near Broadwater this afternoon. 

Lismore Police inspector Nicole Bruce said a RAV4 collided with a truck, which then hit a tree and caught fire.

"A RAV4 was travelling south, and for unknown reasons at this stage has crossed onto the wrong side of the road, impacted heavily head-on with the truck," Insp Bruce said.

"The initial car burst into flames, the truck was then hit off the road, also it burst into flames."

The drivers' identities are unknown at this stage.

UPDATE 4.20PM: Emergency services have extinguished the fires resulting from a two car collision on the Pacific Hwy near Broadwater. 

The two vehicles were a cane truck and a car travelling in opposite directions.

Two males travelling in a utility collided with one of the vehicles and both the driver and passenger have been taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the utility will undergo blood and urine tests.

The Pacific Hwy is closed in both directions between Rileys Hill and Wyrallah Rds.

 

UPDATE 3.55PM: The cane truck driver and the driver of the Toyota RAV4 have died following the crash near Broadwater

UPDATE 3.40PM: The accident occurred on the Pacific Highway, five minutes south of Broadwater.

Traffic has been diverted along Rileys Hill Road. 

INITIAL REPORT: A TRUCK and a four wheel drive collided in Broadwater and both vehicles are now on fire.

There are also reports that the truck has hit a tree. 

It has not been confirmed yet whether the two drivers are injured.

Emergency Services received reports of the crash at 2:35pm.
