Two trapped after their light plane flips over

A MAN and woman are trapped after a light plane rolled while attempting to land at an airstrip in north Queensland.

Police said two people are reportedly pinned underneath the aircraft Starke Airfield in Woodstock near Townsville and were called around 10.30am today.

It is understood the man is in his 60s and the woman is in her 20s.

Queensland Ambulance has confirmed they are currently treating the two patients as Queensland Fire and Emergency Services works to free them.

A rescue helicopter has been called but it is unknown still what condition the two people are in.

7 News is reporting the woman is alert and responding while the man is in critical condition, however this could not be confirmed by QAS.
