Police say firearm was thrown from car during pursuit

UPDATE: TWO men are being interviewed by police this afternoon over a police pursuit in Coffs Harbour that saw a police vehicle rammed.

Detectives say a firearm recovered by officers was also allegedly thrown from the vehicle, as it left a trail of destruction as the driver tried to evade officers in pursuit.

Coffs Clarence officers approached two men in a black Toyota Lexus on Kiddel Pl, South Coffs on Friday just before 9am, after they recognised that one of the men was allegedly wanted on two outstanding warrants, police said.

It's alleged the driver did not stop when directed and police initiated a pursuit.

The vehicle was then involved in a minor collision with another car.

Police will allege, during the pursuit, a firearm, was thrown from the vehicle; this has been recovered by police.

At the intersection of Arthur St and Richmond Dr, the vehicle and a police vehicle collided.

The vehicle then drove into a public reserve and hit a second police vehicle.

Police will allege drugs, suspected of being methamphetamine, were thrown from the vehicle; these have been recovered by police.

The driver, a 36-year-old man, and the passenger, a 33-year-old man, were removed from the vehicle and arrested.

Police searched the vehicle and allegedly located further drugs, suspected of being methamphetamine, cocaine, ecstasy, and cannabis; these have been seized by police.

The men were taken Coffs Harbour Police Station where they are assisting police with inquiries.
