Two die in crash

A WOMAN and a young girl were killed in a three-car crash on the Alstonville bypass section of the Bruxner Hwy at Wollongbar yesterday afternoon.

Richmond Local Area Command duty officer Inspector Matt Kehoe said "a tragic scene" greeted police following the smash, 250m west of Kays Ln at about 2.20pm.

"We have two people that are deceased in a Nissan Micra and two people from a Landcruiser four-wheel drive were taken to hospital with minor injuries," he said.

Insp Kehoe said the Nissan was travelling east on the Bruxner Hwy when it appeared to have crossed to the wrong side of the road and was T-boned by the westbound Landcruiser.

A white westbound Nissan Pathfinder towing a boat had all wheels ripped from the trailer.

Paramedics, NSW Fire and Rescue, police, SES and police rescue and Rural Fire Service units attended the scene.
