Lismore man, 60, spits on council worker

A MAN has been charged after he allegedly assaulted two council workers on Saturday night.

Police from Richmond Local Area Command allege that a 60-year old Lismore man assaulted a Lismore City Council worker on Saturday night by pushing him in the back, Senior Constable David Henderson said.

Two hours later the same man was spoken to again by council workers.

The man has then spat in the face of the victim, Snr Const Henderson said.

He was detained until police arrived, and when he was searched he was found to be possessing a prohibited drug.

The man was been charged with two counts of assault, possessing a prohibited drug and not complying with direction given by police officer.

The Lismore man will appear in Lismore Local Court next month.
