NRL: the week in review

TRY OF THE YEAR NOMINATION: Not quite a Mark Coyne miracle, but there were shades of the famous Origin try as Brisbane halfback Ben Hunt featured in a wonderful length-of-the-field touchdown to winger Lachlan Maranta which involved several passes and a kick.

THE MARTIN BELLA AWARD: Even skipper Cameron Smith had to laugh as a confused and clearly disorientated teammate Ryan Hinchliffe evoked memories of big Marty Bella's 1994 Origin opener play-the-ball blooper in Melbourne's heavy loss to the Roosters.

ORIGIN BLUES AWARD: Melbourne again. The Storm is averaging just one point a game backing up after Origin I in the past two seasons. Craig Bellamy's men failed to get on the board against the Cowboys last year, and scored just two points against the Roosters on Monday night.

THE MARCEL MARCEU AWARD: Canberra's volatile mentor, Ricky Stuart, could become the first coach to be fined $10,000 for saying nothing at a press conference. That's after his 29-second cameo before walking out on the stunned media following the loss to the Broncos.
