True Prince breaks drought with win at Lismore Turf Club

FOUR-year-old gelding True Prince scored its first win in almost a year at the Lismore Turf Club TAB meeting yesterday.

True Prince ($5) took out the $15,000 Benchmark 50 Handicap (1400m) for Eagle Farm trainer Bryan Dais.

The horse placed second on the Sunshine Coast in March before running last at Beaudesert earlier this month. Its previous win was at Ipswich in June last year.

In other races, Carmella Miss ($6) continued its good run at Lismore, powering home to win the Benchmark 60 Handicap (1200m).

Carmella Miss has now won its last three starts at Lismore as well as another at Casino.

Ballina trainer also enjoyed success yesterday with Profiler ($2.25 favourite) winning the sixth event to notch his second consecutive win.

There was also a non-TAB meeting at Murwillumbah on Saturday. Local trainers Terry McCarthy and Stephen Randall had wins.

Racing returns to the Northern Rivers with a TAB meeting on Saturday.

The next Lismore meeting is scheduled for May 8.
