Truck crash near Macksville bridge blocked Pacific Hwy

UPDATE: THE Pacific Hwy has reopened at Macksville following the truck crash, which brought down power lines, early this morning.  

The truck crash happened around 4am when a b-double, travelling south, left the roadway and struck a powerpole and mains box, just south of the Macksville Bridge.

Live wires were brought down over the road and power was lost to main street businesses.

Energy crews spent the morning restoring power to the town centre as the Pacific Highway was closed due to safety concerns. 

The traffic lights at the intersection of Cooper and Wallace Sts were also blacked out for most of the morning.

Once the hazard was cleared, police and firefighters diverted traffic around the crash scene through the north-bound lane before both lanes were reopened.
