A tropical paradise made for relaxing
PUTI knocks on my villa door at 7am carrying a tray loaded with breakfast goodies.
I lazily go back to bed as she sets the dining table with a vibrant red tablecloth and decorates with a handful of fragrant frangipanis.
Thirty minutes later, a sumptuous breakfast is served and Puti discreetly disappears as my travelling companion and I enjoy a feast of delicious, succulent tropical fruit, Bali porridge topped with with bananas, strawberries and raisins, free-range eggs, fresh watermelon juice and a pot of Bali's famous Kintamani coffee.
As I sip my coffee, I gaze upon a glorious tropical garden, a private pool and a day bed just made for curling up with a good book.
I'm staying in the trendy Seminyak district of Bali in a one bedroom suite villa at the Mutiara Bali Boutique Resort Villas and Spa and I'm feeling very spoilt.
Built with a mixture of modern and traditional Balinese architecture, each villa comes with a designer kitchen, dining pavilion, large bedroom, marble bathroom, private pool, beautifully manicured gardens and a private chef to cook your breakfast.
The beach is about 800 metres away and the villas are surrounded by the famous cafes of Jalan Laksmana or "eat street" and a host of high-end fashion boutiques and spas.
The Mutiara complex also includes a hotel section with superior, deluxe and family rooms and with a price starting from just $80 per night, they represent great value.
Vilas are available with one, two and three bedrooms. One bedroom villas cost about $180 per night including breakfast.
A huge resort pool and a gym complete the complex.
With attentive staff who just can't do enough for you, it's no wonder the Mutiara won a Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence award for 2013.
Mutiara is located at Jalan Braban no 77, Seminyak, Bali.
