MOUNT Isa's population is set to soar when Triple J's One Night Stand descends on the mining town next month.

The youth radio station announced this morning that its annual free, all ages concert will be held in north-western Queensland.

The concert will be headlined by San Cisco, Tash Sultana, The Smith Street Band and Thundamentals.

The 'oasis in the outback' is the most remote town Triple J has ever selected for the One Night Stand, which was last held in Queensland in Dalby in 2012.

"The event is so important for youth in regional areas," said Mount Isa Mayor Joyce McCulloch in a statement released by Triple J.

"The One Night Stand is no doubt the biggest live music event to hit Northwest Queensland and I'm sure we will be seeing plenty of folk from all over the state and the country in The Isa."

If you're from Mount Isa or the surrounding area and want a shot at playing at the One Night Stand, upload your songs to triple j Unearthed before midnight on Sunday 2 April. The winner will be announced on Tuesday 4 April.

Triple J's One Night Stand will be held on Saturday, April 22 at Tony White Oval.
