Trinity Dr decorations smashed

POLICE are appealing for information after Christmas decorations were smashed outside a house on Trinity Dr at Goonellabah two days before the traditional Christmas lights display begins.

Between 10.30pm on Tuesday and 6am on Wednesday, police said unknown persons have smashed a timber Christmas decoration that was on display outside one of the festive houses on Trinity Dr.

Trinity Dr residents have been putting on a spectacular Christmas light show every year for the past 15 years for the community's enjoyment. The spectacular displays traditionally attracts a steady stream of visitors each evening in the weeks leading up to Christmas Day - and with the abundance of good will, vandalism is rare and out of character.

Santa and his helpers visit every night handing out good cheer and lollies for the kids.

This year from tonight until Christmas eve Trinity Dr will feature the most spectacular street of houses in Lismore all lit up for Christmas.

The festive sight draws thousands of visitors and over the past 15 years has raised tens of thousands of dollars to support the Westpac Lifesaver Rescue helicopter.

Anyone with any information that may assist police with their investigations is asked to contact Lismore police on 6626 0599 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
