Daughter tried to save dad, 68, killed in tractor rollover
A FAMILY has been left in mourning after the tragic death of a 68-year-old Tinana man who was killed in a tractor rollover on the weekend.
Police Sergeant Bruce Hodgins said the man's son and grandson heard a crash about 4pm on Saturday as they walked around the Teddington Rd property.
After investigating the noise, the two found the man underneath the tractor, which had rolled on top of him.
Sgt Hodgins said the man's son and grandson appeared to have used a gantry crane to get the tractor off him.
The man's daughter then attempted to perform CPR while they waited for an ambulance to arrive.
But despite his family's best efforts, the man had suffered extensive head injuries and Sgt Hodgins said it was believed he had been killed instantly.
"It's certainly a tragic thing," he said.
Sgt Hodgins said the man had been trying to pull stumps out of the ground with the tractor, using a chain, when the tractor rolled, pinning him underneath.
He said the death would be referred to the coroner and it would be up to the coroner to decide whether or not there would be an inquest into the incident.
