Towns on star watch as Angelina Jolie heads to Qld, NSW

ANGELINA Jolie is an Oscar-winning actress, married to one of Hollywood's most desirable hunks with whom she shares a wealth adding up to more than $300 million - but for Tamworth's banker-turned-baker Janice Pearson, Ms Jolie is just an everyday person.

Ms Jolie will be directing the Second World War epic Unbroken with the script penned by writing legends Joel and Ethan Coen.

The film is an adaptation of the book which haunted the New York Times' bestseller list for an incredible 146 weeks.

It tells the true story of war hero Louis Zamperini who survived 47 days in a raft after a near-fatal plane crash.

He and two surviving crewmen were then caught by the Japanese Navy and sent to a prisoner-of-war camp.

On Tuesday, both Queensland and New South Wales governments trumpeted the appeal of their states with the production set to be shot in Tamworth and Werris Creek in NSW and on the Gold Coast in Queensland.

APN understands that the production team are able to shoot throughout the two states, prompting speculation they could pop into other regional centres.

The cast and crew are expected to stay in Tamworth while scenes are shot in the area.

Ms Pearson said she was not surprised the country music capital was chosen by Ms Jolie as a backdrop.

"It's a nice country town - why not choose Tamworth?" she said.

When asked whether she would supply a free cake to the celebrity and her entourage, Ms Pearson said there was no chance.

"That would be fine, I would charge her for it," she said.

"She's just like anybody else, I suppose."

The timeline for filming remains unclear although Unbroken is due to be released in December next year.
