Toovey gets double in Thistles win

TWO headed goals from midfielder Max Toovey handed Lismore Thistles a valuable 2-1 away win over Lismore Workers in their FNC Premier League soccer showdown on Tuesday night.

The pace of the Blues' game troubled the Redmen but they clawed one back in the second half when Kurt Walker scored his first goal in the Premier division.

However, Thistles hung on for a deserved win that elevates them to second spot on the premiership points ladder.

Goonellabah has several games in hand but grabbed a share of fifth place after a hard-fought 2-0 home win over Alstonville.

Goals from Cerys Hakins and Dave Annetts gave the minor premiers the edge with Villa unable to score for their third game in a row.
