Toovey finds a positive in defeat

A LOSS is never easy to take, especially for someone as competitive as Manly coach Geoff Toovey, but the combative mentor did take a positive out of last Sunday's 38-26 defeat to Penrith.

"It did give us the extra day off so it's a good thing," Toovey said, his team finishing fourth instead of third going into tomorrow night's qualifying final against the Roosters at Allianz Stadium.

Manly has lost twice to the Roosters this year, Toovey saying his team had lost the physical battle.

The Roosters will be without prop Jared Waerea-Hargreaves (suspended), but replacement Luke O'Donnell, a former NQ Cowboy, said he was ready to step up.
