Brearley to defend sprint title

LOCAL star Tony Brearley will put his national title on the line when he defends his Australian Litre Sprint Championship at Lucas Oil Lismore Speedway this Saturday night.

Brearley took out the event last year at Sydney Speedway in a sensational drive that saw him take honours in the shadow of the chequered flag.

Brearley faces some tough opposition in defence of his crown.

The challenge is headed by current NSW Club Championship point leader AJ McTaggart, former national title holder Sean Barnett, NSW Champ Craig Smith and Sydney star Shane Cooper.

The Australian title has brought together the best Litre Sprint drivers in the nation in what should be one of the most keenly contested events seen in years.

Meanwhile, it's a big night of action at Lucas Oil Lismore Speedway as the Super Sedans will contest the annual Grenville Anderson East Coast National.

The event remembers Lismore Speedway's all-time favourite sedan driver who passed away in 2004 as a result of injuries received in a race crash some years earlier at the Brisbane International Speedway.

The entry list is headed by reigning Australian Super Sedan Champion Steve Jordan and contains an impressive line-up of talent.

Long time Lismore star Wayne Randall has entered, while Brisbane's multi national titleholder Darren Kane also will compete.
