Todd invited to join the Bulldogs training squad

TODD Makejev is going from a Brother to a Bulldog.

After an impressive season with Marist Brothers that earned him the Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League under-18 rookie of the year award, Makejev has gone on to join the train-on squad with the Canterbury Bulldogs SG Ball team.

He was invited by the Bulldogs to attend the try-outs and was accepted into a squad of 34.

Last week, the 17-year-old played a trial game against North Sydney at Revesby that lead to his coach Jason Williams describing him as raw talent.

The former Kadina High School vice-captain has enjoyed a positive sporting year, receiving the prestigious Pierre de Coubertin Award from the Australian Olympic Committee for his commitment to sport and sportsmanship.

He represented his school, Richmond Zone, and the North Coast in several sports, while giving up weekends to referee Junior Rugby League, also representing the North Coast in the League State Championships.

He was Kadina 17-years Boys Cross Country Champion; Marist Brothers under-18 best and fairest and players’ layer, and Marist best junior player in the senior grade.

The Bulldogs will announce the full SG Ball team toward the end of February and with only 10 matches to be played before the finals, Todd could have a shot at playing in the under-20 Toyota Cup.
