Titans re-sign flying Walker

THE Gold Coast NRL club has re-signed rising star Shannon Walker until the end of the 2010 season.

The 19-year-old excitement machine from Kyogle is regarded as one of the fastest players in rugby league.

Although the fullback and outside back is yet to make his NRL debut, he is a regular member of the Titans' full-time training squad and is regarded as having a bright future in the game.

Titans managing director Michael Searle said the extension of Walker's contract for a further two years highlighted just how highly thought of the Junior Kangaroo is.

"Shannon is an incredible prospect and is on his way towards representing the club at NRL level in the near future," Searle said.

Walker, who has scored five tries in as many games for the Titans' NYC squad this year, said he was pleased to settle his future on the Gold Coast just two hours from his family in Kyogle.

"It's pretty exciting," Walker said.

"I didn't really want to move away from the Gold Coast.

"My fiancé Casie and I are really happy here."

With his future now secured, Walker said he was focussed on learning his trade in order to achieve his goal of making his NRL debut.
