Titans call in POM

HE made his Super League debut at 18, made his international debut against Australia two years later, and now Wigan utility back Dan Sarginson is set to join the growing line of Englishmen playing in the NRL.   The 22-year-old has signed a two year deal with the Gold Coast Titans, and will join the club at the start of the 2017 season.   Sarginson was actually born in Perth, but moved to England with his family as a child before debuting for Wigan in 2014. He has since scored 21 tries in his 58 appearances for the club.   He played alongside Eddy Pettybourne at the Warriors, and said a striong recommendation from the Titans forward had convinced him to have a shot at the NRL.   "I spoke to Eddy Pettybourne and he said the Titans have a load of promising players and they have started the season really well, and the lifestyle is a lot different to here so I'm excited about that," Sarginson said from England.   "I want to cement my positon in the England squad and I think playing in the NRL with the Gold Coast will help me do that. Eddy says the coaching staff are unbelievable, so I'm really looking forward to it."   Sarginson's signing was the second bit of good news for the Titans this week, one of five teams at the top of the NRL ladder after three wins from their opening four games.   Scans showed the knee injury to Tyrone Roberts was not as bad as first thought, although he is in doubt for tomorrow night's derby against the Broncos.
