Tips for buying a home

A HOME expo organised by Casino real estate agents Meridian PG will seek to stimulate interest in home ownership when it kicks off next Thursday, November 12, at the Casino Community Centre.

Banks and building societies will be there, along with home builders, pest inspectors, and real estate and council representatives.

Meridian's Troy Carey said the expo was aimed at first-home buyers and home investors.

"We find that a lot of first-time buyers don't know where to start," he said.

Mr Carey said in Casino there were excellent-value homes for sale for under $200,000 that could be paid off for not much more than the average weekly rent.

For the buyer looking to build their dream home, there are quality blocks available in the Settlers Estate and the expo will have representatives from both GJ Gardner and Perry Homes to discuss drawing up home plans.

When it came to building wealth, Mr Carey said existing owners with equity in their homes could borrow against that and buy into another property.
