Tip free day at Lismore recycling centre extended

Lismore Council has extended its tip free day into today for those who couldn't get in yesterday.

Sunday's Tip Free day was one of the most popular ever and a lot of people weren't able to get into the tip, acting general manager at the council Simon Adcock said.

"Staff at the Resource Recovery Centre said they got 'smashed'," he said.

People who weren't able to get to the tip, or who gave up after being stuck in traffic, can bring their rubbish to the tip today for free, he said.

"People just have to explain that they weren't able to get in yesterday."

All general household waste will be accepted and the restrictions on hazardous goods remain in place.

Last November's tip free day was cancelled.
