Time running out for Oz Day awards

RICHMOND Valley residents have only hours left to nominate their neighbours for citizen awards at next year's Australia Day ceremony.

The clock is ticking on nominations for citizen awards across the Northern Rivers and the bell has already rung in the Ballina Shire, where nominations closed on December 4.

Richmond Valley is next cab off the rank, with nominations closing at 4pm today.

Nominations for Lismore and West of the Range in the the Kyogle Council area close on December 20. In Byron Shire, nominations will close on December 21, while Kyogle Council is giving residents east of the range until January 18 to come up with a nomination.

Nominations for the national Australia Day awards are also closed.
