ALSTONVILLE and Ballina had wins in the open and senior final of the Northern Rivers District Bowls Association Women's Fours competition. Both games were hard-fought and finished 22-21 at the East Lismore Bowling Club yesterday afternoon.

The Ballina senior team comprised Bernadette Dera, Kay Huett, Sandra Ward and Leslie Morgan.

"It was tight all the way and Ballina led until the last end," publicity officer May Gregor said.

"Alstonville and Ballina had a couple of teams playing, so there was plenty of crowd there."

The open Alstonville team featured Amanda Marron, Jan Speechley, Betty Jones and Judy Scotcher. Both teams go on to play Mid North Coast teams in the state-wide competition at a date yet to be confirmed.
