Three Northern Rivers surfers make national squad

THREE of the region's surfers have today been named in a national squad for a forthcoming prestigious tour.

Suffolk park duo Soli Bailey and Kirsten Ogden, together with Lennox Head's Stephanie Single, have been included in the TravelSIM Team Australia party for the International Surfing Association World Junior Championship in Nicaragua.

Top young surfers from across the globe will contest June's event, with 300 competitors from more than 30 countries expected to attend.

The trio earned their spots after impressing at recent trials.

Australia will be hoping to go one better than last year's event, when it finished second behind Hawaii.

Soli is the under-18 boys party, with Ogden and Single the two under-18 girls selected.
