Three charged over pre-dawn armed robbery at Casino home
THREE people broke into a Casino home in the early hours of yesterday morning and threatened a woman and her boyfriend with a machete and a knife, police have said.
Police have this morning charged three people, two men aged 18 and 22 and a woman, aged 20, over the home invasion, in which a 25-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted.
In a statement, police accused the three people of breaking into a home at Adam Street about 3.30am and threatening the woman and her 24-year-old boyfriend while they searched the couple's bedroom.
Police say the 20-year-old woman assaulted the 25-year-old when she demanded the younger woman return a mobile phone she had taken.
A short time later the trio fled the home with property; they were last seen driving away in a grey-coloured Mitsubishi Magna.
Police were alerted to the home invasion and officers patrolling the area spotted the vehicle travelling south along Summerland Way toward Grafton shortly after 4am.
They stopped and searched the vehicle, allegedly finding property believed to be have been taken from the Casino home.
The three occupants were arrested and taken to Grafton Police Station.
An 18-year-old man and 22-year-old man were charged with aggravated break and enter and armed with intent, while a 20-year-old woman was charged with aggravated break and enter, armed with intent, malicious damage and common assault.
All three were refused bail to appear before Lismore Local Court on Tuesday, December 16.
