Third person charged over murder

A THIRD person has been charged with the murder of a much-loved grandmother at Raymond Terrace.

A 31-year-old man from Kempsey was arrested and charged this week by detectives from Strike Force Varberg in relation to the murder of Margaret Gall in 2002.

Earlier this year, a Ballina woman was charged with her murder, while another woman in Newcastle was also charged previously.

Mrs Gall, then 50 years old, was found dead in her home by her partner. A post-mortem examination found the grandmother of 10 sustained extensive head injuries.

Strike Force Varberg was established to investigate the death of Mrs Gall.

The initial cold case was revived in 2006 when a $100,000 reward was posted by the State Government for information leading to the capture of person, or persons, responsible for the death of Mrs Gall.
