Third Byron Shire home burnt down in under three weeks

A MEDIUM-sized Ocean Shores brick and tile home was devastated by fire last night.

It took 23 firefighters and almost two hours to bring the fire on Orana Road under control.

Four people evacuated before emergency services arrived at 10:45pm.

Police arrived first and found no one was injured, however the house was already well alight.

Firefighters went straight into defensive mode in order to isolate power.

An exclusion zone has been setup around the property due to unstable walls at risk of collapse.

The fire was brought under control at midnight and emergency services left the scene by 1:15am.

The cause of the fire is unknown but is due to be investigated this morning.

In the space of two and a half weeks three Byron Shire homes have been completely destroyed by fire.
