Thieves in stolen car point gun at cops

SUSPECTS believed to be driving a stolen car in Townsville have allegedly threatened motorists and police with a gun.

At 6.30am today a resident allegedly approached a white VE Omega and the driver threatened them with what is believed to be a black handgun.

The suspects also alleged threw a brick through the windscreen of a vehicle.

That incident occurred near Douglas St and Clarke St in Garbutt.

Police started searching for the suspects and an occupant of the car allegedly pointed the firearm directly at police.

Police are searching for the vehicle which was last seen near Pallarenda.

The vehicle was stolen from an address in Mount Louisa in the early hours between 2 and 4am.

Residents are advised not to approach the suspects and to call Triple 0 or PoliceLink on 131 444 if seen.
