Christmas grinch thieves steal wrapped presents

HEARTLESS thieves have stolen children's wrapped Christmas presents in an overnight break-in.

Michaela Scott was out on the town with her partner Nicholas Paynter on Monday night when they decided to stay at a mate's house before heading home.

They were then awoken by their neighbours who told them the bad news.

Their car had been ransacked and numerous presents destined for their children had been stolen.

Ms Scott outlined the incident online.

The thieves opened the Christmas presents that were wrapped for Ms Scott's daughter and family, stealing some and leaving the rest on the street.

"We have an Xbox 1 missing with blue racing stripes on it which makes car noises when turned on," she said.

"A laptop with photos also has stickers and no battery, just a cord to charge it and the laptop itself.

"They also took my partner's shaving kit as well as his new underwear and his controller for the Xbox."

She pleaded for information about the thieves to help track them down.

"If you see or hear anything please contact me or my partner," she said.

Ms Scott said police had been at the scene to take fingerprints and had collected a cigarette butt.

"It still doesn't save the money we have spent on Christmas presents and the fact they stole from young children," she said.

Two presents that were unwrapped were left up the street.

Sgt Susan Fort from Toowoomba Police said an officer had been assigned to investigate the incident.

She reminded residents not to keep valuables in cars and to keep vehicles locked and secured

One of the rear passenger doors of the car was unlocked.

A kid's play doh plastic set was among the items stolen.
